“Membe” in Swahili refers to a wading bird indigenous to the East African shores, although it is also prevalent in various global regions. This term encompasses both the Curlew and the Whimbrel. At our beachfront restaurant near Fumba Town, we draw inspiration from this bird by incorporating locally sourced ingredients and adhering to regional culinary practices, all while striving to uphold a superior international standard in terms of both quality and nutritional balance.

We aim to showcase the excellence of African cuisine, combining local flavors and global influences to rival the world’s best culinary traditions. Our menu, inspired by the Western Indian Ocean and diverse African recipes, offers a unique blend of local and international culinary excellence. We source fresh seafood directly from local fishermen and obtain fruits, vegetables, and spices from nearby markets, mainly supplied by Zanzibari farmers. Additionally, key ingredients like tamarind, pilipili, lemon grass, and hibiscus are grown in our own garden.
